About the Show
Every song has a story. Every record has a moment. ItMakesYouMove digs into the music that changed everything — and the people who made it happen.
The Show
Music doesn't happen in a vacuum. Behind every hit record is a world of history — social upheaval, technological change, cultural collision. ItMakesYouMove started as a simple question: What if we looked for the songs that today still make us move, one year at a time, from the year of their earliest appearance?
We start in 1927 with Jim Jackson's "Kansas City Blues" — believed by some to be the first-ever million-selling record. Then we're working our way forward through every era, genre, and revolution that followed: Blues, jazz, soul, rock 'n' roll, hip-hop, and beyond.
Rock & Roll Records. Rock & Roll Musicians. One Year at a Time.
